Tech Center: Microsoft Office
PennO365 provides full-time Penn students at participating Schools with access to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus services and applications. Office 365 ProPlus features a full version of Microsoft Office, which includes: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and more.
Download and Install Microsoft Office:
For students that do not already have a PennO365 account, they will have to set their PennO365 password here: https://office365.password.isc.upenn.edu. Students in schools that use PennO365 email can skip to step 2.
Navigate to the Microsoft online portal at https://portal.office.com.
Log in with the PennO365 username and password. NOTE: the PennO365 username is PennKey@upenn.edu.
Once logged in, click the Install Office 2016 button and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
NOTE: The School of Medicine does not participate at all in the PennO365 initiative, but instead uses the Penn Medicine O365 instance. For information on downloading Office, direct users to https://www.med.upenn.edu/pmacs/o365-faq.html?preview=true or (215) 662-7474.
Licensing
If a student requests information on what will happen to their PennO365 account following graduation, refer them to their school’s IT department. Each school handles this differently, resulting in different dates for deactivation. You can let the student know that their information will be available for 60 days after the date given by their LSP.
Here are just a few features Office ProPlus 365 offers for students. They will be able to:
Install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus on up to 5 (five) personal devices, including PC or Mac, Windows Phone, Android, and iPhone.
Synchronize their class notes with OneNote.
In real time, use Microsoft Office Online to collaborate and co-author Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents without losing formatting, fonts, spacing, and layout. Best of all, it doesn’t matter where they are, this works across a variety of browsers and mobile devices.
